Badoism

Badoism is a collective of young up-and-coming Toronto jazz musicians who focus on making groove-based music while leaving space for interactive improvisation. Badoism’s repertoire could be labelled but not defined as modern and contemporary jazz fused with elements of more mainstream genres such as hip-hop and R&B. Badoism draws an audience’s attention through catchy grooves and keeps their attention through the unique improvisatory solos of each musician in the band. The group’s sound is influenced by artists such as Braxton Cook, Butcher Brown, Marquis Hill, Geri Allen, and Herbie Hancock among many others. Along with playing arrangements of tunes by artists that inspire the group, all the musicians in the group compose and contribute original compositions to the repertoire.

Badoism is made up of alumni and current students in the jazz programs at York University, The University of Toronto, and Humber College. The members of Badoism are Stefan Haynes on Alto Saxophone and Flute, Vonne Aguda on Trombone, Christopher Anderson-Lundy on Tenor Saxophone, Daniel Bado on Guitar, Evan Little on Keyboards, Leighton McKinley Harrel on Bass, Caleb Klager on Bass, and Jon Catanus on Drums.
