Bridge of Imagination
Artists: Phil Sutherland and Reanna Niceforo
Reanna Niceforo is a multi-disciplinary artist from Toronto. Her work spans from jewelry to interactive installations, with many creative projects in-between. She has exhibited in a number of galleries, has permanent artwork on display in Toronto’s Liberty Village neighbourhood and has created an interactive installation for Distillery District’s Nuit Blanche.
Together they are a creative team that has received international recognition, exhibited in The Amsterdam Light Festival (2016-17), will be returning to Amsterdam for the 2017-18 Festival and will be working with the RGB (Roma Glocal Brightness) Light Festival next year in Rome.
We are creating a digital winter landscape. Artwork that flows through a series of winter themed imagery, drawing from the collective unconscious, interpreted into light and shadow. The bridge, acting as a canvas will project large-scale artwork that will be visible from afar. The artwork will be in motion flowing through the motif of winter in a congruent and somewhat abstract narrative that plays through the lights and shadows that tell the tale of winter.
The site-specific nature of the piece transforms existing architectural features of Ontario Place into the art. Instead of simply creating a piece of artwork we are transforming that landscape, creating artwork that lives outside the confines of a gallery but instead is intended for the community and tourists alike. We are striving to redefine the experience of art. To create art that is impactful and inspires a sense of wonder while bringing beauty into the lives of those that encounter it.
