Pedestrian and Traffic Access to Ontario Place during Toronto Caribbean Carnival’s Grande Parade – Saturday August 5th, 2017

Please note the following restrictions and closures when planning arrivals and departures from Ontario Place during the day of the Toronto Caribbean Carnival’s Grande Parade – Saturday, August 5th .  Also, please give yourself extra time to get to and from Ontario Place due to local traffic congestion.


If driving from the west, stay on the Gardiner Expressway and exit at Spadina Ave. turn left (north) on Spadina Ave. to Fort York Blvd.  Turn left onto Fort York Blvd. (going west now).  Follow Fort York Blvd. to Fleet St. Make a right at Fleet St. (still going west) and go to Strachan Ave, make a left onto Strachan Ave. (going south) which becomes Remembrance Drive, and go straight into Ontario Place.


If driving from the east, Lake Shore Blvd. is closed from Strachan Ave. onwards.  Access to Ontario Place is made by making a left turn (south) at the lights of Lake Shore Blvd. and Strachan Ave. (Princes’ Gates of CNE). Follow the two-way lanes into Ontario Place to enter Parking Lot 1.

Traffic will be high, so expect delays.


Pedestrian access is available from the east via Remembrance Drive or from the west via the Martin Goodman Trail.


GO Trains on various routes at specific times will be providing service to the Exhibition stop.  Please check the GO Transit website for scheduling information.

Go Transit will stop at the Exhibition grounds.   Exit trains and walk east along Manitoba Dr. to Strachan Ave. south on Strachan across Lakeshore Blvd. to Remembrance Dr. and continue south towards the lake into Ontario Place.


The T.T.C. transit routes closest to Remembrance Drive and Lake Shore are:

  • 121 Fort York-Esplanade buses westbound (board bus at street level at Front Street and Bay Street) to Fort York Boulevard and Fleet Street
  • 509 Harbourfront streetcars westbound from Union Station to Fort York and Fleet St
  • 511 Bathurst streetcar southbound from Bathurst Station to Fort York and Fleet St

Please note that parking will be limited as Parking Lot 2 will not be available. Parking Lot 1 will remain open for guests. We recommend walking, taking public transit or biking.
