Biography: Janine Marchessault is a founder of the Future Cinema Lab, and the 2014-2016 inaugural Director of Sensorium: Centre for Digital Arts Research at York University. In 2012, she was awarded a Trudeau Fellowship to pursue her curatorial and public art research, and is an on-going member of the CinemaExpo67.ca research group and the Public Access Collective. She is the author of Ecstatic Worlds: Media, Utopias and Ecologies (MIT 2017); Cosmic Media: Marshall McLuhan (Sage 2005); and (co)editor of numerous collections including 3D Cinema and Beyond (Intellect/ University of Chicago Press 2013); Reimagining Cinema: Film at Expo 67 (MQUP 2014) and Cartographies of Place: Navigating the Urban (MQUP 2014). She has curated numerous large-scale site-specific public art exhibitions, the most recent was Land|Slide: Possible Futures in Markham Ontario. Her latest curatorial project is an expanded cinema engagement with 5 artists XL Outer Worlds—commissioning IMAX by artists that will be shown at the Cinesphere in the fall of 2019.

Biography: Bryan is a Californian who became a New Yorker who then transplanted himself to Toronto. Starting his career in theatre at the tender age of 15, Bryan has worked his way from the San Francisco Bay Area, to Los Angeles, to New York and now, here in Toronto. Notable recent projects as Technical Director and/or Production Manager include “The Journey (2018)”,
“Shopkins Live” US Tour, “Cannibal the Musical” US tour, "Forever Plaid”, “Skylight”, “Dee Snider’s Rock & Roll Christmas Tale”, “Panamania” arts and culture festival during the 2015 PanAm games here in Toronto, “DisEnchanted” in Chicago and on tour, “Sherlock” North American Tour and several years with the NYC Ballet.

Biography: Vladimir Spicanovic is an artist-educator and Dean of the Faculty of Art at OCAD University (OCAD U). Spicanovic’s art practice explores the intersections of perception, empathy and temporality in painting and photography. His educational work and teaching have been informed by postmodern art theory, cross-cultural perspectives in art education and his learning about Indigenous epistemologies. In 2014, Spicanovic was appointed OCAD U’s inaugural Senior Fellow at the Massey College, University of Toronto. He served as Chair of the Canadian Association of Fine Arts Deans (CAFAD) from 2013 to 2017, and is currently an Academic Colleague at the Council of Ontario Universities (COU) and a member of the Education and Community Engagement Committee of the Art Gallery of Ontario (AGO). In 2015, Spicanovic assumed the role of Lead Advisor for curriculum and curatorial engagement for LandMarks/Repères 2017 (www.landmarks2017.ca ) — one of the signature projects for Canada 150. His essay, Pedagogies of the Land, was published this year in the LandMarks2017 book publication produced by the Magenta Foundation and Partners in Art (PIA). Spicanovic holds a PhD from McGill University.
Biography: Jennifer Stein is a freelance event producer and director. Most recently she curated the cultural programming for the 51-day Union Summer festival in front of Canada’s busiest transportation hub. She produced major concert events for the Luminato Festival including Rufus Does Judy at the Hearn Generating Station and Gentlemen Prefer Broadway at the Sony Centre. She also produced Harbourfront Centre’s Multicultural Festival and for the 2015 Pan Am Games, Jennifer created and produced the daily Victory Celebrations on Nathan Phillips Square. Jennifer was the Director of the 100th Grey Cup Festival and has directed and produced numerous events for the National Hockey League and Major League Baseball. She has been a thesis mentor and guest lecturer at Ryerson School of Performance, George Brown College, Humber College and Sheridan College. While serving as Associate Artistic Director at Young People’s Theatre, Jennifer won the Dora Mavor Moore Award for Best Direction of a Musical. Jennifer is a member of the SummerWorks Festival board of directors. She is deeply suspicious of the rumored reboot of Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
Biography: Cynthia Lickers-Sage is a visual artist from Six Nations, Mohawk Nation, Turtle Clan. Following her graduation at the Ontario College of Art and Design she Co-Founded The Centre for Aboriginal Media, imagineNATIVE Film and Media Arts Festival and is the sole proprietor of Clickers Productions. She has spent the last two decades working in the not-for-profit arts sector as the former Executive Director at the Association for Native Development in the Performing and Visual Arts and the General Manager at Kaha:wi Dance Theatre where she gained valuable skills to take on her current position as the Executive Director at the Indigenous Performing Arts Alliance.
Cynthia has worked within the governmental sector at the Ontario Arts Council (Acting Aboriginal Arts Officer & Community and Multidisciplinary Arts Officer) and the Canada Council for the Arts (Flying Eagle Coordinator). She currently also serves on the board of directors at CAPACOA and Ontario Presents and has served on a variety of volunteer boards and arts service organizations, including Dance Ontario, Aboriginal Education Council at OCAD, Planet IndigenUS Advisory Committee , Cultural Human Resources Council of Canada, National Aboriginal Network for Arts Administration, Kakawekwewin (Aboriginal advisory committee to the Canada Council for the Arts), Toronto Arts Council, Aboriginal Peoples Television Network, 2013/2014 Dora Mavor Moore Dance jury member, Cultural Careers Council of Ontario and is the proud recipient of the Toronto Aboriginal Business Association’s – Aboriginal Business Women and the Year award.

Biography: Creative by nature and a Live Events Production and Costume Designer by trade, Carlos has designed more than 48 productions of theatre, dance, ceremonies and live events around the world. His work showcases the creative direction of multiple visual aspects of a performance; combining set, wardrobe, lighting, props, video projection and puppetry.
This present year, he joins Cirque du Soleil as Projection Designer for their new residency show in Hangzhou China set to open in March of 2019. He also recently designed props and costumes for Pepsi’s Super Bowl LII Halftime Show, as well as joined Guy Laliberté’s Lune Rouge as Theme Park Designer for a new guest experience in Miami Florida. He will also design stage and props for a new production of GREASE in Mexico City due to open this coming May. He will end his year as Creative Director and Production/Costume Designer of the third Day of the Dead Parade in Mexico City, all whilst continuing his work as creative consultant, stage designer and art director for various production/design companies in Canada, the U.S. and Mexico.

Biography: I’m an award-winning large event & multimedia producer & project manager currently based between Vancouver and Toronto. With over 12 years of producing events, festivals, contemporary art, video and more, my work experiences span globally. My specialty is in developing fully integrated programmes from scratch; I’m a self-proclaimed nerd with a passion for artistic development in all its forms. Passionate for integrating multimedia within public spaces, I’ve recently been found playing with ar/vr technologies and diving deep into entertainment and IP law as it relates to new technology and the artistic world.
When not producing, I am a professor in Live Events & Entertainment and Production Management at BCIT in Vancouver and hiking the glorious country side of Canada.
