Dave Mowat is from Alderville First Nation northeast of Toronto where he lives with his family. He took up the blues harmonica in Winnipeg where he relocated in 1982 and by 1985 was fronting his first band. For the next 10 years, he covered the Winnipeg scene, moving back east in 1995 working in various capacities for Alderville but continuing to work in music. He has played in all corners of the province, with many musicians from Canada and the US. Today he plays in Toronto and along the lakeshore playing the old blues he has always loved. In 2019 he was elected chief of the Alderville First Nation and balances that intense position with a busy schedule playing clubs and festivals.
