Disco Wall is an illuminated, iridescent acrylic prism, housing a wall of spinning disco balls. The illuminated sculptural artworks focal point is a product that is symbolically representative of celebration and renewal: the disco ball. The repetitive spinning of the disco balls and the colour changing properties of the iridescent acrylic are also symbolic of renewal through movement and visual transitions.
The iridescent acrylic produces a full spectrum of colour dependent upon the amount, type, and direction of light reflecting off its surface, as well as the angle in which it is viewed. The disco ball towers rotate, sparkle, and reflect light and colour illuminating their surroundings, allowing the viewer to experience the artwork in a different way from various locations, as well as at different times of day, encouraging exploration and interaction.
About the Artist:
Nate Nettleton is an Ottawa based artist exploring simplicity, possibility, and progress via abstract sculpture. Nettleton’s artworks are part of public and private collections across Canada, the United States, China, and the UK. His pieces have been featured in numerous Canadian and American art publications, exhibited at various galleries across North America, and are represented by Wallspace Gallery, and Liz Lidgett Gallery.
