Voice in Matter by James Craig, Agata Wszolek and Alex Warner

Voice in Matter transforms visitor recorded sounds into motion, allowing everyone to experience how audio shapes shifting light and reflections. Visitors are encouraged to pick up the phone’s handset and as they speak, the tower gradually fills with light. Once full, an audio cue in the handset and a flicker of light signals the next step. When the handset is returned to its holder, the accumulated light “drains” from the tower into the main display—revealing the patterns generated by their recording.

Voice in Matter par James Craig, Agata Wszolek and Alex Warner

Voice In Matter transforme les sons enregistrés par les visiteurs en mouvement, permettant à chacun d’expérimenter comment l’audio façonne la lumière et les reflets changeants. Les visiteurs sont encouragés à prendre le combiné du téléphone et pendant qu’ils parlent, la tour se remplit graduellement de lumière. Une fois plein, un signal audio dans le combiné et un scintillement de lumière signalent l’étape suivante. Lorsque le combiné est remis à son support, la lumière accumulée « s’écoule » de la tour vers l’écran principal — révélant les motifs générés par leur enregistrement.

Rhythms of Chaos captures the chaotic motion presented by the fascinating physics phenomenon of double pendulums, translating mechanical motion into a multi-sensory experience of dynamic light, sound, and time. The installation invites visitors to peer through the three pendulums in a clear enclosed frame, observing their layered motions as each swings unpredictably. Rhythms of Chaos compels visitors to experience time not as something that passes, but as something deeply felt — wild, unpredictable, and endlessly alive.

Rhythms of Chaos reflète le mouvement chaotique des pendules doubles, un phénomène physique fascinant. L’installation traduit le mouvement mécanique en une expérience multisensorielle de lumière, de son et de temps dynamiques. L’installation invite les visiteurs à regarder les trois pendules dans une fenêtre fermée transparente pour observer leurs mouvements superposés alors que chacune oscille de façon imprévisible. Rhythms of Chaos permet aux visiteurs d’oublier la linéarité du temps et de réfléchir à sa nature sauvage, imprévisible et infiniment vivante.

An interactive experience where visitors can transform sound into pulsing, shifting light, using their own voices — light rippling across the figure of a bat in rhythmic patterns, like echoes in the dark. Visitors approach the mic and use their voice to activate LEDs on the bat sculpture, lighting up a pattern on the bat. The colour, timing, and intensity of the lighting shifts in response to the sound of the voice, visualizing how bats use echolocation.

Une expérience interactive où les visiteurs peuvent transformer le son en lumière pulsante et changeante, en utilisant leur propre voix — la lumière ondulant sur la silhouette d’une chauve-souris selon des motifs rythmiques, comme des échos dans l’obscurité. Les visiteurs s’approchent du micro et utilisent leur voix pour activer des DEL sur la sculpture de la chauve-souris, illuminant un motif sur la chauve-souris. La couleur, la synchronisation et l’intensité de l’éclairage changent en fonction du son de la voix, visualisant comment les chauves-souris utilisent l’écholocalisation.

Wind II: The Wave invites visitors to engage by gently pushing the panels to initiate or amplify the rhythmic motion, becoming co-creators of the wave’s pulse. This act of participation connects the viewer to both the elemental forces and the passage of time — the momentary intersection of human energy, light, and nature.
