Deep Reverie

If AI could dream, what vision of our world’s future would it imagine?
In a world where AI increasingly shapes our reality, Deep Reverie is an interactive installation that poses a profound question: What does AI dream of? Inspired by the early phases of AI’s “deep dreaming”—a visual experiment where algorithms produced surreal, dreamlike images—Deep Reverie invites visitors to engage with the installation and reflect on how far AI has come.

Christina and Binam Kayastha are siblings who specialize in interactive art powered by emerging technologies. Originally from Nepal, they are currently in ON, Canada and are working as software engineers. With a passion for bridging the digital divide, they strive to use computer engineering to invent new accessible and magical human-machine interfaces. Returning artists to Lumière, their latest work, Virtual Visage, exhibited in 2024, explored the tension between authentic and digitally modified selves in the age of AI and deep fakes. Beyond Lumière, they were commissioned to create a permanent light sculpture, the Bolton Fire Bell, for the City of Bolton, ON, set to be unveiled in 2025. Constructed from laser-cut and welded metal, the piece will be permanently installed in a community center, blending history with technology. Through their art, Christina and Binam Kayastha aim to transform how we interact with our devices and the digital ecosystems we live in.
