Born out of a love for funk and a passion for fusion came McBrown — the funk-fusion group developed by bassist, bandleader and composer Liam Brown. Formed in late 2019, the band had a short run of performances throughout Hamilton, Ontario, before COVID-19 came to wreak havoc.
The group features an all-star lineup of Mohawk College attendees and graduates featuring Alex Pedherney on saxophone, Liam Brown on bass and Nathanael Pollard on keyboard. Although the group hasn’t performed in a little while, it hasn’t stopped bandleader Liam Brown from taking a creative plunge into pushing the boundaries of his writing style. Taking inspiration from musical superpowers Chick Corea, Kenny Wheeler and West-Coast Hip-Hop, Liam has taken the spirit of his inspiration and morphed it into his own creation.
As the band continues to create, they hope to release an EP by the end of 2021.
