Ori Dagan Jazz Trio

For the past 20 years Ori Dagan has been making a name for himself on the Toronto jazz scene as a talented, hard-working, dedicated musician. Inspired by innovators such as Ella Fitzgerald, Charlie Parker, Lester Young, Anita O’Day and Sheila Jordan (with whom he recorded a duet in 2017), he is an artist dedicated to the art of jazz, whether interpreting a standard, spinning a pop tune on its head, or introducing his own original music and lyrics.

In recent years Dagan started to venture out of Toronto to perform on the international circuit. His ambitious project Nathaniel: A Tribute to Nat King Cole was the first visual album in jazz history, an award-winning collection of standards and originals that was released as both a recording and a collection of music videos. Nathaniel resulted in invitations to headline the TanJazz jazz festival in Tangier, Morocco; performances in Seoul at South Korea’s first Public Diplomacy Week; an official showcase at South-By-South-West in Austin Texas, and many more.

During the pandemic, Ori Dagan’s online weekly live-streamed concert JAZZ IT UP has garnered over 1 MILLION VIEWS collectively with episodes that have covered everything from traditional jazz icons Nat King Cole, The Rat Pack, Peggy Lee and Louis Armstrong to songs of Disney, the 80’s, the 90’s to name a few. He has used the show as an opportunity to connect with viewers across the world, making new fans across Canada, the United states, Mexico, Brazil, Portugal and beyond while staying connected to his home base of Toronto.

In 2021 he will be releasing his fourth album, Click Right Here, consisting of all originals. The FACTOR- funded release is a pandemic-inspired joyride reflecting on the shortcomings of technology, the trappings of social media and other 21st century blues, backed by a swingin’ 8-piece jazz band of Canada’s finest: Nathan Hiltz (guitar); Attila Fias (piano); Alex Bellegarde (bass); Ben Wittman (drums); Colleen Allen (tenor sax); Alison Young (alto sax); William Carn (trombone); Andrew McAnsh (trumpet) and special guests Jane Bunnett, Simone Denny, Donovan Locke, Erik Flow and Samways. Stay tuned for Click Right Here!
